After stumbling against Leme in its debut (a 3-2 loss at Ninho do Urubu), Flamengo bounced back in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Cup. Coach Armênio Moura's team thrashed Bangu, despite playing away from home, at the Artsul stadium in Nova Iguaçu, and earned its first three points in the competition. With goals from defender Lucas Galdino, midfielder Vitor Saba, and forwards Eliabe, Vinícius Paquetá, and Diego Maurício, Flamengo beat the Alvirubro from the west zone 5-0.

The rout could have been even greater, but attacking midfielder Renan Silva missed a penalty kick. Even so, the player was pleased with the result and the team's performance, which returns to the field to host Volta Redonda on Sunday at 13 p.m. in Gávea.

"Unfortunately, I ended up missing a penalty, but the team played well, setting the pace from the start and never letting up. It was a good result for us to prove we have the strength after that stumble in the first home game. Now it's time to work towards Sunday's game," said Renan.

Flamengo played with Marcelo, Lucas Galdino, Christianno, and Henrique; Rafael Galhardo, Wellington Pecka, João Vitor, Erick Flores, and Jorbison; Renan Silva and Diego Maurício. Saba, Eliabe, and Paquetá, who scored goals, came on in the second half.
