Three-time state champion and third-place finisher at the U-19 Club World Cup in Malaysia, Flamengo's junior team is already preparing for another competition: the Octávio Pinto Guimarães tournament, won by the club in 2006.

Led by coach Adílio, a club idol and one of the main players of the generation that won everything they competed for from the mid-1970s to the early 80s, the group that will face this new challenge is renewed.

"We will have a different team, already formed by players born in 1988 and 1989. Several of the athletes we worked with until August were promoted to the professional category," said coach Adílio, citing, among others, striker Kayke and defender Thiago Salles.

The team has been training daily at Ninho do Urubu, a training center located in Vargem Grande, west of Rio de Janeiro.

Flamengo's debut will take place on September 29th, against an opponent yet to be determined. The qualifying phase of the competition began on September 1st, featuring 32 teams with lower investment.
