With the victory, Armênio Moura's team reached six points and remained in contention for the title in the first round of the Campeonato Carioca. Renan, Guilherme Camacho, and Rafael Mazzei scored the goals in Flamengo's victory.
The leader of the first round of the Rio de Janeiro Junior Championship is Tigres Brasil, who defeated Madureira 3-1 yesterday and reached nine points in the standings. It's worth noting that the Rio de Janeiro Junior Championship is played in a round-robin format, with all teams playing each other. The champions of each round face off in two matches to determine the 2009 Rio de Janeiro champion.
In the next round, Flamengo faces Macaé on Saturday at 16 p.m. at Guanabara Stadium. The game is part of the 5th round of the tournament (the first round did not take place and was rescheduled for March 01st).
