Kleberson: euphoria with the call-up

Midfielder celebrates presence on Dunga's list for the Brazilian national team's friendly

Midfielder Kleberson was elated to learn he had been called up for the Brazilian national team's final friendly before the World Cup. In August 2009, the Flamengo player had injured his shoulder while wearing his own national team jersey in a match against Estonia.

With the World Cup just months away, Kleberson was thrilled with Dunga's call-up and couldn't hide his emotion. "Without a doubt, this day will be forever etched in my memory. I never stopped believing and was hopeful that I still had a chance of making it to the World Cup. This call-up is a reward for all the effort I've put in over the past few months. It was very difficult to be left out of the national team and Flamengo at the end of 2009. Now I want to seize this moment and seek my place in the group during the time we'll be together. With great humility and my feet on the ground, I will fight to fulfill my dream of playing in another World Cup," the athlete declared.

Kleberson took the opportunity to thank his Flamengo teammates and the club's medical staff. "The support from everyone at Flamengo was incredibly important. This injury was one of the worst moments of my career. I was getting opportunities from the national team, and Flamengo was fighting for the Brazilian Championship title. Thank God, I received affection from my family and had support from the club. The medical staff and the entire coaching staff have a decisive role in this new call-up, I'm sure," the player concluded.
