Fullbacks believe Fla could have come away with the victory

Leo Moura and Juan approved the red-black performance in the classic against Vasco at Maracanã

The 0-0 draw wasn't a negative result for Flamengo in this Sunday's (01.08) classic at Maracanã. After all, Rubro-Negro maintained the best defense in the Brazilian Championship and remains just one win away from entering the G4, the qualifying zone for the 2011 Libertadores. However, the players believe they could have achieved an even better result.

Left-back Juan, who had a great opportunity to score in the most impressive play of the game, when goalkeeper Fernando Prass saved three shots in a row from the red-black attack at close range, regretted the fact that he was unable to push the ball into the net.

"I still can't believe it. Three chances to score. I had the easiest one and didn't have the strength to do it," he said.

Leonardo Moura, the Flamengo captain, believes Flamengo dominated the match and, as a result, earned the fans' trust. According to him, despite Vasco's perceived favoritism, the team from Gávea proved it has what it takes to defend its Brazilian title.

"We created many more chances. They need to thank the goalkeeper. Everyone thought Vasco was the favorite, but we played better and could have won. We earned a vote of confidence from the fans," he added.

This Monday (02.08), the players will have a day off and will return next Tuesday (03.08), at 9am, to begin work with an eye on the match against Corinthians, on Sunday (08.08), at Pacaembu.
