The jersey number is a tribute to his triplets (Valentina, Filippo, and Lorenzo, five years old). His teary eyes reveal his emotion, and Zico's endorsement is the final proof that Leandro Amaral is back. After more than a year away from the field, the striker was officially presented by Flamengo on Tuesday afternoon (August 03.08) in Gávea. He received the number 33 jersey from the club's executive director of football and said he was ready for the responsibility of being the Rubro-Negro's center forward.

"I chose and identify a lot with the number three. It was a tribute to them for this moment and for everything they did during my recovery. The three of them stayed by my side and I'm sure everything will work out here at Flamengo," he said.

In addition to his family's support, Leandro also thanked Zico for his trust in him, who gave him the chance to return to playing professional football wearing the Flamengo jersey.

 "When I needed affection the most, Zico reached out to me. I'm happy and very confident. I think I deserve a greater reward. The fans can be sure that I'll try to give my best on the field," he said.

Leandro is expected to be available for Rogério Lourenço to play within three weeks at the most. Having fully recovered from a fungal infection (Candida albicans) following arthroscopy on his right knee, he says he's ready for the challenge.

"Everything is completely over, and I'm ready to work. I can share the ball and do everything on the field. The responsibility is huge for every player. Wearing the Flamengo jersey is a challenge, but it's also very enjoyable. Meeting the club with open doors is really cool, and I think it will be a great pressure. I believe everyone is on the right track," he added.
