Coach Rogério Lourenço has already expressed his desire to count on Renato Abreu and Leandro Amaral for Saturday's match (August 14.08) against Ceará at Maracanã. Therefore, the two players will be closely monitored throughout the week by the entire red-black coaching staff, especially by physical trainer Toninho Oliveira. On Monday (August 09.08), the players did physical activities at Gávea, alongside Marquinhos, Toró, Rodrigo Alvim, Maldonado and Lenon, and left Toninho excited.
The trainer, who had already shown optimism with the recovery of Leandro Amaral, he reaffirmed the good condition of the attacker, who according to him, only needs to gain game rhythm, little by little, to return to playing at his best level.
"Leandro is doing very well. His recovery has been excellent, and the work we did with him before he signed with Flamengo was very well done. I believe he needs to get back into match rhythm, especially since matches are very different from training, but he'll only get that gradually, by playing games. We'll continue to monitor him and analyze his responses to the activities to determine whether he'll be able to play on Saturday," explained Toninho.
The case of Renato Abreu, who does not hide his desire to soon return to play an official match for Flamengo, is a little more complicated. Even so, the coach doesn't rule out his starting lineup for the match against Ceará.
"Renato is still at a different level and isn't the player he could be, but we know he has very good physical strength and could surprise us throughout the week. There's a real chance he'll play, but we need to know his and Leandro's true condition before we decide on the lineup. But they're both working hard," said the coach.
The tendency is that on Thursday (12.08), in collective training, Rogério Lourenço will give the first indications of whether he will take Renato and Leandro Amaral to the match, either as starters or as reserves.
