Leandro Amaral praises duo with Diogo

Striker reveals anxiety for the first goal and regrets missed chance against Galo

Leandro Amaral nearly scored his first goal for Flamengo and gave the Red-Blacks a victory over Atlético Mineiro last Thursday night (August 26.08) at Maracanã. The striker had a good chance to score, but goalkeeper Fabio Costa made a great save and prevented the ball from going into the back of the net. Despite this, Flamengo's number 33 believes he is improving and that the partnership with young Diogo has everything it takes to succeed in the upcoming games.

"We ended up creating more than in recent games. Diogo has a lot of quality. I was lucky enough to play with him at Portuguesa and I'm sure he'll help us a lot," said the player, in an interview with Flamengo's official website.

After more than a year away from the field, Leandro returned to wear the Flamengo jersey and has already played three consecutive games for the red-and-black team. According to him, this sequence of opportunities is crucial to regaining match rhythm and getting back into top form.

"For me, this run has been really good. The more games, the better. I'm loosening up more, gaining more confidence and improving in every aspect," said Leandro, who couldn't hide his excitement for his first goal wearing the Sacred Mantle.

\

"I have to work hard to get my first goal. Expectations are high, as is anxiety, and we need to control that. We were close against Atlético, the shot was caught off Fabio's toe, but with everyone's commitment, I'm sure this goalless streak will pass," he added.
