Leandro Amaral hopes to be fit against Ceará
Despite the pain, the striker believes he will be training normally with the group this Wednesday.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inThe back pain that kept Leandro Amaral out of the training match against Bangu this Tuesday (10.08), in Gávea, should not be a problem for the striker to train normally with the red-black group this Wednesday (11.08), in Ninho do Urubu. And it should also not prevent the number 33 from making his debut for Flamengo on Saturday (14.08), against Ceará, in Maracanã.
In an exclusive interview with Flamengo's official website, after undergoing treatment at the club's medical department this Tuesday, Leandro confirmed that he is well prepared physically and should be available to Rogério Lourenço.
"It's a little pain that's bothering me a bit, but only today. I should be better tomorrow and training normally with my teammates. I don't think it's going to stop me from playing on Saturday," he said.
The player also couldn't hide his excitement about his first match for the Gávea club, especially in front of the red-and-black fans at Maracanã. Having just turned 33, Leandro hasn't played an official match in over a year due to a knee injury and a fungal infection. He's eager to get back on the field.
"Of course we're excited. It's going to be an important game for Flamengo, and I hope to be able to play again. It's definitely going to be special for me, and I'll do everything I can to help my team win," he added.
If it's up to coach Rogério Lourenço, both Leandro and Renato Abreu will be on the field on Saturday to help Flamengo secure another victory in the Brasileirão, in a direct clash with Ceará, which has 23 points and is third in the table.
