Leandro Amaral may renew his duo with Diogo

The attackers played together at Portuguesa and will meet again at Flamengo.

It's not just Deivid who will reunite with former teammates when he arrives at Flamengo. Diogo will also see a player he played alongside at Portuguesa. Leandro Amaral, one of the biggest revelations in Lusa's history, played alongside Diogo when he was still a promising player for the São Paulo team in 2006.

Already experienced, Leandro was making his final appearance with the team that had helped him develop, and later that year, he would join Vasco da Gama. Before that, however, he had time to get to know the 19-year-old striker, who became the most expensive transfer in Portuguesa's history (nine million euros).

"Diogo is a player with a lot of potential. I met him at Portuguesa and worked with him for a short time, and I'm sure he's a young man who will have a very successful career. He came into his own in 2008, had experience in Europe, and I believe he can do very well in his return to Brazil," he said.

After being out of action for over a year due to a knee injury and an infection, Leandro returned to action last weekend, wearing a Flamengo jersey against Ceará. He's excited, and doesn't believe the signings of Deivid and Diogo should be seen as competition, but rather as reinforcements for the Flamengo squad.

"Any good player is always welcome. The ones who benefit from this are the coach, who will have more options for selecting the team, and Flamengo. Everyone knows that you need to build not just a team, but a squad to win the Brazilian Championship," he concluded.
