By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inLeandro Amaral has no shortage of experience and a nose for goal. However, the Flamengo striker still needs to regain match fitness. After being sidelined for over a year due to a serious knee injury, he has played a few games for the first team and will now face Palmeiras this Saturday (September 24.09th) in the second round of the U-23 Cup. The striker's goal is to get back into top form so he's ready when a chance arises with the senior team.
"It's always important for a player to be playing. No matter how much you train every day, a match is different. It's good to be on the field, playing for real. Besides, I have to gain rhythm and prepare myself to be in the best form when a chance in the main team comes along," he stated.
Motivated to compete in the tournament, he promises to give his best on the field to help Flamengo continue their quest for the Under-23 Cup title.
"It's a great opportunity and I'm as motivated as if it were a game for the first team. I made myself available and since I did, I'm going to try to give my best on the field to help the team achieve victory," said the player, who said he was happy with the responsibility of helping the younger players.
"I'm a more experienced player and I think it's great to have this responsibility, this role of helping the younger players. I'll try to pass on some of my experience and help in any way I can," he added.
