Lenon recalls his time at Madureira
It was from Tricolor Suburbano that the midfielder left to reach the youth ranks of Flamengo
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inImpério and Portela are from there, as is midfielder Lenon. The young Flamengo talent began his career with Madureira, Flamengo's opponent this Wednesday at 21:50 PM at the Maracanã. While still playing futsal, he took his first steps with Tricolor Suburbano before catching the attention of the Gávea club's board. As a youth player, he ended up joining Flamengo, and his rise began.
It was precisely with a strong performance against Flamengo that Lenon secured his place at Gávea. Wearing the colors of Madureira, the player, who already stood out not only for his marking ability but also for his passing ability, exceeded expectations.
"The time I spent at Madureira was very important. It was after a good game I played against Flamengo that I ended up coming here. I started there in the youth team and ended up leaving the youth team. It's crucial for a player from a smaller team to stand out in games against big teams. I always dedicated myself a lot and have very good memories of Madureira," he recalled.
In 2006, he began to stand out among the youth team and hasn't looked back since. He won titles in the under-17s, excelled in the under-20s, and was quickly promoted to the senior team last year. Since then, he has played 15 games for the senior team, all with some noteworthy performances, which even earned him a spot in the first round of the Copa Santander Libertadores.
"I'm very happy with my current situation at Flamengo. Being registered for the Libertadores was great. I'm having the opportunity to gain more experience. I'm a young player and I know I can improve a lot. I just have to work towards that, and I am working towards it," he noted.
More than identifying with Flamengo, Lenon emphasizes the importance of having players who came through the club's youth ranks in a winning group.
"I think it's incredibly important to have players who have come up through the ranks in a group like this. It highlights the good work done in the youth teams and also motivates the players in the junior team. Once you get here, you just have to focus on the goal of doing well, working hard, and not wasting any opportunities that come your way," he concluded.
