The second half of the Brazilian Championship has just begun, and Flamengo is experiencing some difficult times. However, accustomed to the pressures of the profession, the club's players assure that the work environment is excellent and that the "gray phase" will pass. These were the words of captain Léo Moura on Thursday afternoon (September 09.09).
Suspended from Flamengo's next match, next Saturday, at 18:30 pm, against Vitória, at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda, the right-back explained that the red-black squad will keep its feet on the ground, but does aim to reach the top.
"We can't compare Flamengo's campaign this year to any other, much less that of other clubs in other years. Each game has its own story, and each championship is different. We have 18 games ahead, and we've set a goal of winning eight of them. In the remaining 10, we'll try to get the points to reach the top of the table. We trust our squad and we'll react," said the right-back, who will be heavily supportive of whoever replaces him.
"I'm a bit hungry and always want to be on the field. Since that won't be possible, I'll give a lot of support to whoever takes my place. It's the least I could do. We know we need to be calm now. The team is creating scoring opportunities, but the ball isn't going in. It's not the attack's fault, as many say. We're just unlucky. If anyone is to blame, it's the entire team," said Léo Moura.
The red-and-black captain also made a point of reassuring the fans. He explained that all the players know they need to give even more on the field and that victories will become a routine again at Gávea.
"We always go out on the field wanting to win. Now, we're going to think and work even harder on that. Our goal is to get ahead on the scoreboard. We need to be extra careful at the beginning and end of games. We've already discussed this and know we have a group capable of fighting for the top spots. We're going after that and we'll get out of where we are now," he concluded.
