Leo Moura now wants the first goal
Flamengo's waiter gave two assists against Grêmio, but has yet to find the net in the Brasileirão
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inLeonardo Moura is used to being a waiter at Flamengo. He's already provided over 50 assists in his nearly 300 games for the club. However, he's scored slightly fewer goals: 37. This year, he's scored just three. And none of them in the Brazilian Championship. So now, after providing two more decisive passes in Wednesday's (September 22.09) match against Grêmio, the number 2 is looking to break the deadlock and find the net for the first time in the competition.
\Even though he's been pressured by his family at home, Léo knows his importance in Flamengo's attacking plays and says he will continue to use this characteristic to help Flamengo.
\"This pressure (to take more risks) comes from home, from my wife, brothers, father, mother... But it's my way to get there and put my teammate in front of goal. I was even commenting to Jean that I haven't scored yet," said the captain, who explained the pass to Petkovic for Flamengo's equalizer against Grêmio.
\"It wasn't even a three-finger pass. It was a two-finger pass (laughs). I gave a similar pass to Adriano in the Libertadores," he said.
\Still dreaming of returning to the Brazilian national team, the red-black captain knows he can earn an opportunity with Mano Menezes if he maintains the good form he has been showing throughout the season.
\"I'm not appearing alone. I'm thinking that I'll wear the national team jersey again. It's in my plans as long as I show my condition. If I continue at this pace, the opportunity will arise," he added.
