Flamengo's stumble against Avaí on Wednesday night (July 21.07) set off alarm bells in Gávea. The team has already dropped points it shouldn't have lost playing at Maracanã, and so the players are on alert to prevent a repeat. Flamengo's new captain, Leonardo Moura, believes the best way to turn this situation around is by earning points away from home.

The first opportunity for this is next Sunday (25.07), when Rubro-Negro faces Internacional, at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre.

"Not winning at home in the Brazilian league is always bad. It's a result we wanted to give us some peace of mind for the game in the south. But this championship is difficult. Corinthians lost to the last-place team, for example. Now, we're going to Porto Alegre trying to win, just like we did in Goiânia. We missed out on three points here, but we have a chance of bringing back three points from there," said the number 2.

The full-back avoided comparisons with the 2009 campaign, when they were Brazilian champions, but warned that the team will fight to be able to fight for the top spots, as they did last year.

"Getting points away from home is very important. At home, we have to do our duty. We can't afford not to win at Maracanã, because later on, it will be missed. We can't compare it to last year. This year's championship is different, but we'll try to reach the top of the table again," said the full-back, who also analyzed the team's performance against Avaí.

"After the goal, we gave the ball away a lot. That can't happen. We have to keep possession, even to keep the opposing team from attacking. We have to get these details right so we don't repeat the same mistakes in future games. We can't think that if we're 1-0 up, we've won everything," he concluded.
