Judged by the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD), on Tuesday afternoon (October 19.10), while training at Ninho do Urubu, midfielder Renato received a suspension of only one match due to his expulsion in the classic against Botafogo – a suspension already served in the round following the duel – and, therefore, is cleared to face Vasco, on Sunday (October 24.10), at Engenhão.
Motivated and already having played in several high-stakes derbies in his career, he knows that each game against the rival has a unique story and hopes that this one will have a happy ending for the Flamengo fans.
"A derby is always a highly anticipated game, the mobilization for this match is huge, and we have to keep that in mind. We know the fans will be there, it will be an important game, and we have to be prepared to play a great match," said the number 11, who hopes to see the team maintain the determination shown in recent games to achieve victory.
"The group has always been close-knit, but right now it's extremely important to unite even more. Vanderlei's arrival has given us extra motivation, and now we need to maintain this momentum not only for the derby, but also for the other seven games that remain," he stated.
Happy that the team has reached the qualifying zone for the Copa Sudamericana, Renato doesn't rule out the dream of reaching the top four, but urges caution against getting carried away.
"First we have to think about the Copa Sudamericana, which we've already achieved so far. Then it's about continuing to progress, getting the wins and, step by step, we'll move up. We still have a chance, this extra spot gives us hope, but we're not going to skip any steps," he concluded.
