In Brazil and around the world, Flamengo is known for the size of its fan base, and the symbiosis between the nation and the team has been reflected on the field and in the numbers. The Fla-Flu match, played in the 10th round of the Brazilian Championship at Mané Garrincha, is so far the most attended match of the year in Brazil. Nearly 60 Flamengo fans attended the Mais Querido's 2-0 victory over their rival, who were the home team.
Driven by its fans, Flamengo leads the Brasileirão, is in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil, and is in the round of 18 of the Libertadores. In 29.974 home games this year, Mengão has an average attendance of 19.512 fans, the third-highest average among all teams in Brazil's Série A, B, and C. It's worth noting that Flamengo could easily lead the statistics in terms of average attendance, as they played behind closed doors against River Plate and Santa Fé in the Libertadores. No other team in the Brasileirão has attracted as many fans to its stadiums as Flamengo. In total, 374.774 tickets were sold during the team's home season, with an average attendance of 46.846 paying fans. This is almost 17 ahead of Corinthians, who are second in the survey. Mengão has no fewer than eight of the 10 largest attendances in the national competition, and among the five games with the highest attendance, four are Flamengo's.
