Lomba calls for a bolder team
The goalkeeper believes the team made a mistake by defending too much in the match against Corinthians.

Flamengo's defense proved, once again, to be in good form. This Sunday (August 08.08), the defense managed to withstand the pressure from Corinthians' attack, despite conceding a goal in the first half and leaving the field with the defeat. But for goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, this is no consolation.
The Flamengo goalkeeper emphasized Corinthians' strength and acknowledged that losing to the São Paulo team at Pacaembu isn't a result that causes despair. However, he urged the team to seek out more scoring opportunities.
"We know it's difficult to play here against Corinthians, but Flamengo has to impose its game, its jersey. We can't play so deep. Flamengo has to play forward and try to score goals. But we'll improve as the competition progresses," he said.
Lomba also took the opportunity to say that the pressure for good results and the transition period the club is going through are not affecting the team's performance on the field.
"For me, it doesn't get in the way at all. It's a pleasure to work with Zico and the people who have just arrived. We live off victories and we have to win again, otherwise there will always be these kinds of comments," he added.
The Flamengo squad returns to Rio this Sunday, has a day off this Monday (09.08) and returns on Tuesday (10.08), when they begin work with an eye on the duel with Ceará, Saturday (14.08), at Maracanã.
