Flamengo's top scorer this season and a favorite among the Red-Black Nation, striker Vagner Love experienced a different moment last Wednesday. He missed goals and saw the team lose in a decisive match of the Copa Santander Libertadores. He was upset, of course, but he didn't let it get him down. Motivated, the number 9 promises to turn things around in the return match, Thursday in Santiago, against Universidad de Chile.

Love even heard boos from some of the fans after the game. He understood the fans' demands and praised the support he always receives from the red-and-blacks.

"We know this exists. The fans demand it and want to see us win. Of course we're upset and want support, but we also have to do our part on the field, and we know that didn't happen yesterday. The fans are our 12th player," he said.

With 18 goals in 23 games, Vagner Love knows he underperformed against "La U," but believes it wasn't a happy night for the entire Flamengo team. According to him, everything ended up going wrong at the Maracanã.

"That game was my worst game of the year. I'm definitely not going to miss another chance like the one at the end of the first half. Games happen. We have calm, we have composure, but yesterday wasn't our day. Unfortunately, everything went wrong. We missed a lot of scoring chances. We practice finishing every day, but yesterday the ball just didn't go in," he said.

The player also believes the team has a good opportunity to turn things around this Saturday. Flamengo faces Vitória away from home in the Brazilian Championship, and a victory could give the red-and-blacks even more motivation.

"We have a big game against Vitória on Saturday, and if we win, we'll have even more confidence and strength to face Universidad de Chile. We're going to fight for that spot," he added.
