Love asks fans for patience in the Libertadores
Striker says the important thing is to win, even without a show and many goals
By Press Office and Official Website Team - inVagner Love is a player accustomed to challenges. Flamengo's number nine doesn't shy away from the responsibility of being one of the star players for the red-and-black team that will compete in the Copa Libertadores da América, and he promises fans plenty of desire, determination, and a knack for scoring goals in the international competition. In return, he asks only one thing from the nation: patience.
\The center forward knows the fans' and the entire club's eagerness to win the Copa Libertadores is intense. Therefore, he warns: winning a competition as prestigious as the Copa Libertadores da América is not easy. It requires a lot of calm, composure, and, of course, the awareness that the important thing isn't putting on a show or scoring a ton of goals, but rather securing three points whenever possible.
\"The Libertadores is different. We won't put on a show, we might not score many goals, but the important thing is to win," he commented.
\Flamengo's group opponents will be Chilean side Universidad Católica and Universidad de Chile, as well as Venezuelan side Caracas FC. According to Love, all teams have the potential to qualify for the next round, so Flamengo can't afford to drop points, especially in matches at the Maracanã stadium.
\"It's very important to get as many points as possible, especially at home, to guarantee first place in the group. We're in a tough group, where all the games, both home and away, will be very tough, so we have to give our all to get the wins," he concluded.
\Flamengo makes its competition debut on Wednesday. The team hosts Universidad de Chile at 21:50 PM at Maracanã, and a full house is expected. Tickets are already on sale not only for this match but also for all of Flamengo's matches in the Copa Libertadores group stage.
