Love, Willians and David train on the beach

Athletes did physical activities in Barra da Tijuca this Monday

While the strong sun made Petkovic melt in Gávea, and the reserve players sweated in the training match against CFZ at Ninho do Urubu, three Flamengo players had a slightly more pleasant Monday afternoon, despite being just as hot as their teammates. Vagner Love, Willians, and David trained on Barra da Tijuca beach, trading their shorts, socks, and shirts for lighter swim trunks and shorts.

In good spirits, the three players were heavily mobbed by fans while performing physical exercises on the sand. The trio are fit to play in the Guanabara Cup semifinal against Botafogo on Ash Wednesday. Love and Willians are expected to start the match, while David is expected to replace Álvaro. The club's physiologist, Paulo Figueiredo, who was with Pet in Gávea, spoke about the exercises they did under the strong sun.

"As long as no one gets sick during a game, no one will change. We've already requested changes to some training and game times because it's inhumane for players to play in weather like this. But unfortunately, they have to train in game conditions. It's very difficult for athletes to play in these weather conditions," he explained.

This Tuesday, the entire red-and-black squad will report back to the club's training center, Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande, at 16 p.m. Only Serbian Petkovic continues training separately, in Gávea.
