Missed goal

“I couldn’t sleep. I put a lot of pressure on myself. Today I’m more seasoned and I have to keep my head up. I know my potential and what I can deliver to Flamengo. Obviously, I wanted to arrive and be a champion. I did everything to be here for these games, I paid for the plane to come back, I gave up my salary at West Ham, in addition to other things that people don’t know. The experience I had in Europe helps me think that today is a new day so that I can turn it into another opportunity and help Flamengo.”

Return to Brazil

“I’m returning a different person, obviously. I’ve grown not only professionally, but also as a human being. I became a father, I started a family. I’m returning more experienced; in every place I’ve been, I’ve learned something and sought to evolve. I’m returning more seasoned in the sense of learning how to deal with the situations I will experience. I’m more prepared to handle everything.”

Initial impacts of the return

"There was a lot of euphoria, everyone was so happy to see me returning to Flamengo. It was hectic, I only had two days of training and I'm still adjusting to the situation at home, I still need to sort out a few things. It's a very happy moment for me and my family. It was very emotional and euphoric."

Where do you prefer to play?

“That’s a question I’ve received throughout my career, and I’ll give the same answer I always give. I enjoy being on the field, contributing to my teammates. I feel privileged to be able to play in more than one position, which might give me a certain advantage on the field. I spoke with Filipe about this, and I’m available to help in whatever role he needs.”
