The "Red-Black Nation" will have the privilege this Sunday of being the last Rio de Janeiro fan base to witness a match at the Maracanã before its complete closure for renovations in preparation for the 2014 World Cup. For this reason, a grandstand or special seat ticket for the game against Santos, in the last round of the first half of the Brazilian Championship, will be a treasure and a great souvenir for Flamengo fans.
And one player who has already confirmed his presence at this historic match is former Flamengo striker Vagner Love, currently playing for CSKA Moscow in Russia. A self-proclaimed Flamengo fan, Love recalled the first time he watched a game from the stands at the stadium.
"I remember it was a game where Flamengo beat Fluminense 5-3, and Romário scored 2 goals. I was a teenager and that afternoon was very emotional and unforgettable for me," said Vagner Love, referring to the friendly match on January 20, 1999.
