Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has been making a lot of changes to Flamengo's squad. The coach, who arrived at the club in the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship, has been trying to find the ideal lineup for his team, and therefore feels it's necessary to test options he believes will work in matches. "I'm trying to dig into the team, look here and there, find alternatives. If Flamengo had a good score from the start, there wouldn't be any need to make changes. That's why we're testing. If everything was set and defined, I wouldn't be here," he said.
One of the areas where Luxa tested formations the most was the attack. This time, he's banking on the experience of his also recently signed Diogo and Deivid to move around a lot and give Guarani's defense a hard time.
"A striker has to move a lot. Ronaldo was never a striker who stayed stuck in the box. Neither was Romário or Careca. A striker has to move, but also get into the box to finish," he concluded.
