Luxemburgo leads the collective on his first day at Fla
The new red-black coach has already given clues about the team he will field for his debut on Thursday.
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inCoach Vanderlei Luxemburgo's first day at Flamengo was the center of attention in Rio de Janeiro football this Tuesday (05.10). With dozens of journalists at the Rubro-Negro Training Center, Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande, the new commander introduced himself to the squad, talked at length with the players and already led a collective training session aiming at Thursday's match (07.10), against Atlético-GO.
\The activity began with a chat between the athletes and the new members of the coaching staff – in addition to Luxemburgo, assistant coach Antônio Lopes Jr. and physical trainer Antônio Melo also arrived at the club. Afterward, the players warmed up in a relaxed atmosphere and were divided into two teams.
\The starting lineup consisted of Marcelo Lomba, Leonardo Moura, David, Welinton, and Juan; Correa, Willians, Kleberson, and Petkovic; Diego Maurício and Deivid. The reserves were Vinícius, Galhardo, Ronaldo Angelim, Jean, and Rodrigo Alvim; Fernando, Fierro, and Renato; Marquinhos, Val Baiano, and Diogo.
\Before the training session, Luxemburgo spoke extensively with the starting team, and during training, he gave the players extensive instructions and explained how he believes the team should position itself, both offensively and defensively, including on set pieces like corner kicks. During the training session, Luxemburgo tested Diogo in the starting lineup, replacing young Diego Maurício. At the end of the training session, the coach will hold a press conference.
