Luxembourg highlights points gained
The coach knows that a draw isn't the ideal result in the Brazilian Championship, but he values results.
By From the official website team - inAfter the 2-2 draw with Ceará on Wednesday (November 03.11rd), Flamengo became the team with the most draws in the 2010 Brazilian Championship. They have now drawn 16 matches, seven of them away from home and four in derbies. While the team is currently on an eight-game unbeaten streak, this was their third consecutive draw in the competition.
This is Vanderlei Luxemburgo's fourth draw in six matches as manager. Aware that this is not the best type of result in a league championship, Luxemburgo explained that, obviously, this is not the ideal performance for the team, but, for him, at this point in the championship, every point should be valued.
"It's not what I want, of course, but it's the reality. There's no point in us staying here looking for excuses. Every single point is important now, so we have to value them. Just imagine: if we had lost these games, it would be worse. We are moving forward in a calm environment, with confident players, so I think we are doing well," he said.
The coach also emphasized that the most important thing is that the team keeps seeking victories, even when playing away from Rio de Janeiro.
"Three points are always important. Five games, five draws, five points. With two wins, that's six. That's why we go out to win, even away from home. The draw happened, that's fine, but we know we need the wins," he concluded.
