Luxembourg: "We still have to grow"

Coach praises the team's final minutes and says he wants the team to play like this for 90 minutes

After the 2-2 draw in the match against Sport, on Sunday afternoon (17.05), at Maracanã, coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo spoke to the press and spoke about the match.

Check out how the interview went:

Sport's Goals
The game was well planned, with them wanting to counterattack and take set pieces because they have tall players; and we were aiming to play in their half. Three of our mistakes resulted in them stealing the ball and being awarded a penalty. In the second half, we pushed forward, messed up again, and they scored. In football, you plan one thing, and another happens. You can't play with your opponent.

Learning
I saw a very clear situation: if we play like we did in the last 20 minutes, regardless of who we're up against, if we recapture what we had last season, committed as we were to a result, that's the Flamengo we want. We have to recapture the commitment and intensity we demonstrated on the field. We managed to equalize and could have even turned the game around. If we could do that in 20 minutes, we have to do it in 90 too.

Settings
Paulinho came in after a long layoff. Éverton is getting back into rhythm. Football isn't an exact science; we have to play, we have to gel. In the second half, we achieved a characteristic I really like: intensity and changes of direction. We still have to grow. I see that with training, with games returning to Sundays and Wednesdays, we can improve. Playing only on weekends doesn't give us that rhythm, and the players need it.

Continuation of the Brazilian Championship
With the result of today's game, in the final 20 minutes, we showed that we have a good situation that can continue moving forward. Since it's the start of the competition, we have to consider that we dropped two points at home, we should have gotten three, and we'll have to make up for it going forward.
