"Steel Skinny" celebrates another year at Flamengo
Hero of the sixth title and childhood red-black, Angelim dreams of more titles with Rubro-negro

It's no wonder Ronaldo Angelim is nicknamed "Steel Thin." The player's excellent physical condition and longevity are impressive. At 35, he remains in top form to wear the Flamengo jersey and continue dreaming of new achievements for his beloved club. A hero of the sixth title, won two years ago, he believes he can lift more trophies in 2011.
For Ronaldo, playing for Rubro-Negro is a dream come true. Despite being from Ceará and a fan favorite at Fortaleza, he's never hidden the fact that he truly supports Flamengo. Perhaps this is another secret to his dedication: love.
"I like being at Flamengo, I've won the most important titles here, I'm a fan and I'm incredibly happy to still be part of the squad, at 35 years old, and I hope to take advantage of this opportunity to help the team," said the number 4, who knows he'll face fierce competition for the starting spot.
"The battle for positions will be good, but whoever plays will have the support of all their teammates. I truly believe in the potential of all the players in that position," he assured.
Full of energy, the defender praises the team's preseason work in Londrina, Paraná. For Angelim, this is the time to really grind it out. To work hard so the team can gain a physical and technical advantage over its opponents.
"It's been great. We're working hard, improving mainly the physical aspect, and then the technical aspect is being worked on. I hope Flamengo is in good shape at the start of the Campeonato Carioca so we can get ahead of the other teams," he added.
Since 2006, Angelim has played 253 matches for Flamengo. In addition to his historic goal against Grêmio in the final round of the 2009 Brasileirão, he scored 15 more times for Flamengo. He provided three assists, received 36 warnings, and was never sent off.
