"There's no reason to be discouraged. Qualifying for the Libertadores is still very possible, and we can win our fourth Rio de Janeiro championship, which is unprecedented. We have to support the team. They need us," said Rodrigo Moutella, 20, a physical education student who secured his tickets.

Ticket sales for the classic continue through Friday (16.04) and the expectation is that tickets for the stands will sell out before the weekend. Defender David, who could start in the final, asked for the fans' support.

"I hope to count on the fans at Maracanã. They have a lot of affection for the team, they always support us and we hope to repay that with the title on Sunday," he added.
