Another decisive game between Flamengo and Atlético-MG

Rubro-Negros and Minas Gerais will face each other in the fight to escape the bottom of the table this Saturday

Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro have already decided the Brazilian title, battled for a spot in the Copa Libertadores final, and are playing one of the most intense rivalries in Brazilian football. This Saturday (November 13.11), Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro face off again in another duel that feels like a championship final, but this time with a different goal: leaving the bottom of the Brasileirão table. The match takes place at 19:30 pm at Arena do Jacaré in Sete Lagoas.

With 40 points, Flamengo is 13th in the standings and would currently qualify for next year's Copa Sudamericana. Atlético, on the other hand, has 36 points and is 16th, one spot above the relegation zone, and even with a win, they won't overtake the team from Gávea. Playing on a stage where they've never played before, the Rio de Janeiro team is looking for a win to further open up a lead over the teams in the bottom three.

"We know we need these points. Of course, there's still a lot to do, but a win in a game like this and another against Guarani next week could secure us a spot in Serie A and give us some extra peace of mind when it comes to chasing a spot in the South American," explained midfielder Correa.

Flamengo takes the field with some new players. Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo is banking on the mobility of youngsters Diogo and Diego Maurício up front, as well as a midfield with three defensive midfielders (Correa, Willians, and Maldonado), and Petkovic's creativity and experience in creating plays.

"Everyone here has the quality and ability to wear this shirt. Diogo and I will give our all, just like anyone else, to win the game and help Flamengo get out of this situation," added striker Diego Maurício.

Intimate enemies - The match will also mark Luxa's first meeting with his former team, Galo, which he managed for much of this Brasileirão. And he's not the only one with stories to tell about this Saturday's opponent. For Flamengo, Correa is another who has recently donned Atlético Mineiro's colors. Meanwhile, Diego Tardelli and Obina have formed a striking duo for the club.

"This is normal in football; everyone knows each other and I don't see anyone having an advantage. In this type of game, there are no favorites," Correa concluded.
