Executive director of football Zico had already anticipated that Chilean Maldonado's situation was on track. When contacted by Flamengo's official website, the midfielder confirmed that the intention is indeed to extend his contract with the club. Early next week, the player is expected to speak with his agent, who holds the rights to his transfer, to finalize the deal.
According to Maldonado, the situation is indeed on track. The Chilean believes that everything will be resolved by next Monday (August 23.08). The player's contract with Flamengo expires on the 30th, and his contract with agent Juan Figger runs until the end of the year.
"We'll decide everything on Monday. With Flamengo, almost everything is settled and now all that's missing is my agent's approval. Everything is on track and I hope it gets resolved as soon as possible so I can get back to playing," he said.
Having recovered from a knee injury, he hopes to have a new contract in the coming days so he can work peacefully and return to playing official matches for Flamengo.
"I miss playing football. After dealing with this tendonitis in my knee, I'm already recovered, and now, God willing, next week I'll have a new contract so I can work more peacefully," he concluded.
