Maldonado's return to competitive action is getting closer. This Wednesday (March 10.03), the midfielder participated in a training match (13-0 Fla) against Barcelona, of the third division of Rio de Janeiro, and performed very well. The Chilean didn't score any goals, but demonstrated resourcefulness and, little by little, is regaining confidence.

The player celebrated his strong performance, especially his improvement. Despite this, he doesn't want to rush into anything and remains cautious about participating in next week's matches.

"I did very well. It was my second training match and I believe I'm improving. I still don't know if I'll be available on Sunday. I'll wait for Friday's training session with the group to get a better idea. It's important to take it easy. It's a complicated injury. I've recovered quickly. You have to be careful not to rush things," he said.

Maldonado didn't travel with the group to Venezuela, specifically to continue intensifying preparations for his return. Therefore, he will watch Wednesday's game at home with his family, cheering on his teammates.

"My compatriots helped (Universidad Católica and Universidad do Chile drew in Flamengo's first group game of the round), and now, if we can get a positive result there, we'll reach six points. Then, in the next game, a point against Universidad do Chile will be great and will put us well on track for qualification," he analyzed.

Cleared - Flamengo and Brazilian National Team doctor Dr. José Luiz Runco approved the player's participation in the activity. According to him, Maldonado, who has been undergoing treatment for just over three months, is cleared to face Vasco. The decision rests solely with coach Andrade.

"I was very pleased with his participation in training. He's cleared to train with the group on Friday and Saturday. If the coach wants, he can be included on Sunday. His recovery was quick because he's disciplined, interested, and followed all the planning correctly," he explained.

Fitness coach Daniel Jouvin also revealed that the midfielder is prepared not only in terms of clinical skills, but also physically.
