Maldonado also travels thinking about Flamengo

The player will represent Chile in friendlies, but he won't forget about the red-black team.

Midfielder Maldonado achieved two goals last week: he returned to Flamengo's starting lineup and was called up to the Chilean national team. However, to represent his country, he will have to miss Flamengo's matches in the next two rounds of the Brazilian Championship. "La Roja" faces the United Arab Emirates and Oman this October, and Maldonado has already traveled to join Marcelo "El Loco" Bielsa's squad.

At a crucial moment in the Brazilian Championship, the midfielder knows that his presence on the field would be crucial, but he trusts his red-and-black teammates to lead the Gávea team to victories in the duels against Atlético-GO and Avaí.

"They will be tough games, for sure, but Flamengo is a good team, strong, and capable of winning. Any player who steps into the midfield will perform, and I'm sure we'll play well," he said.

While happy with the opportunity, but a little sad about having to stay away from Gávea, Maldonado believes this is a great chance to showcase his football and guarantees that he will not stop following the team in Brazil.

"I'm happy with where I am right now, recovered, back in the starting lineup... Unfortunately, or fortunately, because it's with the Chilean national team, I won't be here, but I'm sure my teammates will do well and get a good result," he added.

Flamengo, without Maldonado, trains this Monday, at 15 pm, at Ninho do Urubu.
