Mancuello: "It's an important week of work"
Argentine midfielder values full week and praises competition for starting position
By Francisco Freire - inAfter training activities on Tuesday (30), journalists gathered for a press conference. Argentine midfielder Federico Mancuello, who scored the equalizer in the 1-1 draw against Atlético-PR, took part in the conversation. In the chat, he talked about the competition for the starting spot, the week of training and the classic against Botafogo, which takes place next Sunday (04/06).
Check out the main points of the interview:
Week without games on Wednesday
I think it's an important work week, as we haven't had the opportunity to work a full week in a while. In Argentina, it's a little different from Brazil; there's usually more time in the week to finalize details.
Season goals
Our goal in the first half of the year, which just ended, was obviously to stay in the Libertadores, and we didn't make it. But we're at a very big club, and the Brazilian Championship and the Copa do Brasil have become major goals for us.
Competition in the starting lineup
I'm happy to see Diego play, to see him train with us, because he'll help us a lot. I'm not sad. I'm very happy that he and Conca are participating, because it raises everyone's level. I'll be available. Whoever plays will have the support of the group.
Classic
We have to focus on playing a great game, but there are 38 finals in the Brazilian Championship, so we can't just focus on this one. The rivalry is already too intense to say anything about. External factors can also affect it.
Location of the classic
We don't know where we'll play yet. We just have to focus on this week, work hard, and win. We're certain the fans will support us in any stadium, as they have been doing this season and last year.
