After training on Tuesday (24), Mancuello spoke to journalists in the Victorino Chermont Press Room. For the 2017 season, the Argentinean once again wore the number 11 shirt, the number he has worn since his time playing for Independiente in his home country.

In Flamengo's first match of the year, still part of the red-and-black preseason, Mancuello played a new role in coach Zé Ricardo's formation. Playing on the right side of the attack, the versatile player revealed that he enjoyed the positioning, seeing it as an opportunity to grow. The Argentine also answered questions about his expectations for this year's Libertadores and recalled his first goal wearing the Sacred Mantle.

New role in the field
From the first day I arrived at Flamengo, the coach talked to me about the possibility of playing this new position. A player should always be open to new options. Besides being able to play more, it's a good opportunity to grow and perform new roles on the field. This is an opportunity for me to grow in my career in a different position.
2017 Liberators
We secured a spot by scoring a lot of points last year. We didn't achieve our biggest goal, but we achieved something big too. As for Flamengo, our expectations are always high. We're working very hard to have a great competition this year.
First goal for Flamengo
I was out for forty days after suffering a knee injury and returned against Boavista. I hadn't yet scored a goal for the club. Upon my return, I scored my first. I remember it very well; it's etched in my memory.
Governor's Island Arena
The difference from last year is that our board is building a new home here in Rio de Janeiro. Travel in 2017 will take place earlier this year. For the first Libertadores match, I think we'll already have the Arena to play in thanks to the board's efforts.
Debut in the Carioca Championship
I'm wearing a very large Brazilian football jersey. To respect Flamengo's history, we must respect all our opponents. Boavista will be a very tough opponent; we'll have to face them with determination. We should view all our matches the same way.
