Players approve third uniform and take home yellow and blue shirts

For the first time in 114 years of glory, Flamengo used the colors of its founding rowing team in football. Last Saturday, the 15th, was therefore historic. Knowing this, the Flamengo players were determined to take home the third uniform they wore in the match against Vitória. The jersey, featuring yellow and blue, the same colors as the club's first flag, was a hit not only with fans but also with the players.
Officially launched on May 3rd, the jersey costs R$169,90, and over 70 units were sold during the pre-sale period. Defender Ronaldo Angelim approved of the design and assured that this jersey will have a special place in his home.
"I'm definitely going to keep this one," he said.
And it wasn't just Angelim who kept his new jersey. Other players, such as David, Bruno Mezenga, Vinícius Pacheco, Juan, and Kleberson, also took the uniform home.
The blue and the yellow
Founded in 1895, Flamengo emerged as an option for six young rowers to 'fight' against the clubs already formed at the time. More precisely, on the night of November 17th of that year, at Nestor de Barros' mansion, number 22 on Praia do Flamengo, it was decided that the 'group's' anniversary would be brought forward two days (November 15th) and that the uniform colors would be blue and gold, in view.
The uniform was never used by the club's soccer team, as a year later, red and black were adopted as the official colors. The choice was made by Flamengo's then-secretary, Nestor de Barros, who explained that blue and yellow faded too quickly. This meant ordering new uniforms, which, at the time, were imported from England.
