The biggest attraction at the Maracanã is close to reaching a historic milestone: Flamengo needs 39 more games to reach 2 spectators at the stadium. This number is based on a count that does not include matches from the Torneio Início (Opening Tournament).

"According to our criteria, the Torneio Início games should not be included in this count because they are matches lasting less than 90 minutes. These games lasted 30 or 40 minutes, and they are also not included in the individual statistics for each athlete," stated Daniel Rosenblatt, head of the Historical Heritage department at Flamengo.

To leave no doubt, the WSC consultancy and the club's Historical Heritage department made two counts – with and without the Torneio Início matches. With these matches included, Flamengo has played 2.001 games at the Maracanã; without them, the number is 1961. In addition to the consultancy's own figures, research from the websites Flapédia and Fla Estatística was also taken into account for verification.
