By Flamengo Archive - inAfter making his debut last Sunday in a 2-2 draw with Santos, striker Marcelinho Paraíba is eagerly awaiting his first meeting with the Flamengo fans. Tomorrow at 20:30 p.m. against Grêmio at the Maracanã stadium, the number 11 will have the opportunity to showcase his football skills to Flamengo fans.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for the fans' presence. The team is motivated and confident after the draw at Vila Nova. We'll fight hard to get the three points. Only victory matters to us, so there will be no loose balls, and we'll play with a lot of love and determination. I've always dreamed of wearing the Flamengo jersey at Maracanã. Tomorrow, that dream will come true."
The player believes he'll be more in tune after a full week of training. In addition to the tactical aspect, Marcelinho hopes to perform better physically.
"I'm in better shape for this match. Against Santos, everything happened very quickly. This week was important for me to get to know my teammates better. I'm sure Marcelinho has everything he needs to help Flamengo win tomorrow. Hopefully, I can score a goal."
Champion of the Gaucho and Copa do Brasil in 2001 with Grêmio, Marcelinho highlighted the physical strength of Celso Roth's team.
"It's going to be a very tough match. We'll host an opponent with a lot of physical strength and determination. We know the challenges, but we're prepared to put in a good performance in front of our fans. With a win, we'll be back in contention for the top spot."
