After the incidents of recent weeks, goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba found himself in the middle of a whirlwind. Flashes, microphones, and blocks turned their attention to the young red-and-black prospect as she worked hardAnd if anyone thought this would affect Flamengo's current goalkeeper, they were wrong. After 10 years at the club, the goalkeeper assured that he's prepared for whatever comes his way.

"I've been with Flamengo for 10 years and have always worked hard for this opportunity. Now, I need to seize it, literally. I can tell the fans that I'll be ready for my return. The training matches were very important, especially for me. Goalkeepers need match fitness, and I've managed to improve that in these three matches. I hope to maintain my good numbers," said the goalkeeper, who started twice this year and didn't concede a goal.

With the return of the Brasileirão approaching, Lomba knows he'll soon face a traditional opponent, Botafogo (July 14.07). But that's no reason for the goalkeeper to tremble. He knows he'll have an entire nation on his side.

"I know the responsibility is huge. Regardless of the responsibility of replacing Bruno, I believe I represent almost 40 million people. I will defend the nation and hope to live up to the support I've received. Playing for Flamengo is just that. It's a huge responsibility in itself," the goalkeeper concluded.

Flamengo and Botafogo will face each other this Wednesday (14.07), at 21 pm, at Maracanã. Check here where to buy your ticket for the match.
