In a time of signings and contract renewals, Flamengo agreed to retain one of the members of the six-time Brazilian champions last Sunday. The retention, however, was off the field. This Thursday, the club's president-elect, Patrícia Amorim, announced that vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, would remain in his position.

Marcos Braz was the football director of the red-and-black club from 2006 until early 2008, winning the Copa do Brasil (2006) and the Campeonato Carioca (2007) during this period. This year, he took over as vice president mid-year after the departure of Kleber Leite and was responsible for the signings of Maldonado and Alvaro, for example.
