Marquinhos celebrates another assist for Flamengo.
The midfielder provided the assist for Val Baiano's first goal and was also decisive in the Clássico dos Milhões (Classic of Millions).

One of the most promising players to emerge in Brazilian football in recent years, midfielder Marquinhos is gradually carving out his place at Flamengo. A standout for Vitória in 2008, he played for Palmeiras last year and arrived at Gávea (Flamengo's headquarters) in the middle of this year to reclaim his status as a player with great potential ahead of him.
After overcoming legal issues with his former club in Bahia, he became a regular in coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo's squad, ever since his debut against Atlético-GO. And in that match, the number 38 shone, providing the assist for Val Baiano's first goal for the club. In last Sunday's derby against Vasco, he also shone, providing the pass for Renato's goal.
"I'm happy to have provided another assist for a goal. We have to work hard and think about our next opponent," he said.
The midfielder only lamented the fact that the team conceded the goal to Vasco, still in the first half.
"We lacked a bit of patience in the first half, we made a lot of mistakes in our passes, largely due to the poor pitch. That's how derbies are, any mistake you make, and you concede a goal. We conceded a goal. But at halftime, Vanderlei changed things, he implemented a game plan that worked," he concluded.
This Monday, the Flamengo team will reconvene at 16:30 PM at Ninho do Urubu.
