Volta Redonda (RJ) - A promising young talent in Brazilian football, Marquinhos emerged at Vitória and rose to prominence on the national scene thanks to his speed and dribbling skills. After making his debut for Flamengo against Internacional, still in the first round of the Brazilian Championship, the player had to resolve contractual issues before finally returning to the field last Thursday night (October 07.10th) in Volta Redonda.
But the return was in grand style. The number 38 shirt came on in the second half and was decisive: he delivered a perfect cross for Val Baiano to score and pave the way for Flamengo's 2-0 victory over Atlético-GO. Happy, he thanks Vanderlei Luxemburgo, with whom he worked at Palmeiras, for the opportunity, and celebrates his return to the pitch.
"Thank God, coach Vanderlei gave me this opportunity to play well and I was very happy to have helped the team. It was a really nice pass, but what matters is that Val scored the goal and we were able to come away with these three points in such an important game," said the striker, who admitted to feeling a bit out of rhythm in the first few minutes.
"Of course I felt a little lack of rhythm, sometimes you don't have the right timing for the ball, but that's normal, I hadn't played for a while. Now it's about continuing the work, keeping striving, working hard every day, to be able to establish myself and play more time, maybe 45 or 90 minutes, if the coach chooses," he stated.
Now, the striker, always humble, just wants to keep working to continue fighting for more chances with the Flamengo jersey.
"There are still some aspects to improve, I have to keep my feet on the ground and continue working calmly. I'm happy, for sure, but I know I still have a lot to do here," he concluded.
