A two-week training camp in another city can bring many benefits to a group of players. Not only in terms of technical, tactical, or physical aspects, but also in terms of team unity. Living together daily, almost full-time, the players talk, joke, and form a true second family, with whom they sometimes end up spending even more time throughout the year than with their own blood relatives.
Therefore, striker Marquinhos believes that Flamengo will have an advantage at the start of the season. While there's little time to work together, the team's motivation and unity are very high and can compensate for any gaps that will be filled in the coming weeks, even while the Campeonato Carioca is already underway.
"We're training well, the team is showing good physical conditioning, and that's good. It's just the weather that's been bothering some players, leaving us a bit under the weather. But everyone is together, united, smiling, and that's what makes a group. I hope we start the Carioca Championship on the right foot," said the player, who is confident of a good season in 2011.
"I hope to play well, have opportunities and deliver. But the important thing is to dedicate myself in training, show the coach that I want to perform and help the team," he noted.
Another player who can make a difference in this union is the twelfth player: the Flamengo fans. In Londrina, they have already been supporting the team and showing great affection. The players hope for the same in Rio, during the State Championship.
"It's great to have the fans' support. They come to show their support and that gives us even more strength. Now we just need to stay calm because we can have a great season," he concluded.
