On Wednesday night (24), Flamengo beat Atlético-GO 2-1 at Serra Dourada, in Goiânia, and secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil. Author of the winning goal, Matheus Savio cried after scoring and explained the emotion as he left the field. "It was a celebration I needed. I'm happy to help the team and even more so with the qualification," said the Garoto do Ninho.
"It was a difficult game and they went for the result in the first half. In the second half we improved, we kept possession of the ball and managed to find the best moment to score. When the free kick came, we agreed to play the ball into the area, but since they gave us a lot of space, we preferred to play it out from the back and the goal came. The group deserves congratulations and we need to continue evolving. The Copa do Brasil is very difficult, so we need to keep up the work," analyzed Matheus Savio.
Flamengo will once again focus on the Brazilian Championship, as they will face Atlético-PR at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba, next Sunday (28), at 16 pm.
