Clube de Regatas do Flamengo officially announced the appointment of Mauricio Barbieri as the team's professional soccer coach on Thursday. The 36-year-old had been serving as interim coach since Paulo Cesar Carpegiani's departure on March 29.

His first game was a friendly against Atlético Goianiense on April 07, and since then, he has managed 19 matches, with a record of 11 wins, six draws, and only one loss. Coaching the team throughout the Brazilian Championship, Barbieri also led the team to qualification for the round of XNUMX of the CONMEBOL Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil.

Maurício Souza, the coach who won this year's São Paulo Cup, was appointed as assistant to the permanent committee.
