Right-back Mauricio Isla was officially presented this Monday (24) at Ninho do Urubu. Alongside the vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, the executive director of football, Bruno Spindel, and the club's CEO, Reinaldo Belotti, the 32-year-old Chilean answered questions sent by the press. Check out the main excerpts:
Expectations
"It's a new challenge for me, and as a player, I'm looking forward to winning. It's an incredible club, with players with a long history in football. After spending years in Europe, it's great to join experienced players and leaders like Filipe Luís, Diego, Diego Alves... players who won everything last year. I'm very happy to join a club with over 40 million fans."
Why did you choose Flamengo?
"I've always wanted to return to South American football, and when I received Flamengo's offer, I didn't think twice. I'd like to thank Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel for traveling to Spain, for the way they treated me, and for the quick conclusion of the negotiations.
Physical conditions
"I've been training alone in Spain for almost four months. I'll train this week and make myself available to the coach for Sunday's match. Every country has its own style of play; in South America, the game is different. Brazil has strong, young players who make a difference."
Connection with the new club
"I know Zico is Flamengo's biggest idol, and that being a two-time Libertadores champion is very important for the club. I spoke with Maldonado, Fierro, and Gonzales, and I only received positive responses from Flamengo."
