On Wednesday night (23), Flamengo faced River Plate at the Monumental de Nunez stadium and drew 0-0 in the last round of the Conmebol Libertadores. After the match, assistant coach Maurício Souza gave a press conference and analyzed Flamengo's performance in the match in Argentina.

“They had more possession, but I believe the best chances of the game were ours. We can't enter any competition without aiming for first place, and that was our objective here. Of course, the next phase will be difficult; there are no easy opponents left in the tournament. Our goal was to come here today, win the three points, and have the advantage of playing the second leg at home, but that wasn't possible. We need to emphasize that we remain undefeated in the Conmebol Libertadores. We had a difficult start due to the punishment and being without our fans. We are not satisfied with the result, but we are confident for the rest of the competition,” said the assistant coach.

Still in the first half, young Lucas Paquetá received a yellow card and, because he was on a yellow card suspension, will miss the next Conmebol Libertadores match. Regarding this, the coach lamented, “He is a very important player for our team and unfortunately we won't be able to count on him. But Flamengo has a qualified squad and whoever Maurício (Barbieri) chooses to play in his place will get the job done. We feel his absence, of course, but we also need to value whoever will come in,” concluded Maurício.

Flamengo returns to the field next Saturday (26), when they face Atlético-MG, at 21 pm, at Arena Independência. The match is valid for the Brazilian Championship and marks the fight for the leadership of the competition.
