Argentine Maxi came off the bench yesterday to be one of Flamengo's standout performers in their 2-1 comeback victory over Bangu. The number 17 played his first match of the year yesterday and said he overcame his lack of rhythm with his traditional Argentine spirit.

"It's super difficult to come on during a match because it takes a while to get into the swing of things. Yesterday, I think I came on well and was able to help Flamengo come back. I ran a lot and helped with a lot of movement. When you come on during the game, you have to give that extra something to show you can be a starter."

Maxi stated that the arrival of coach Cuca gave him new energy.

"Since Cuca arrived, I've been feeling great. He talked to me and gave me a lot of confidence. He told me he was counting on me and that I was part of the group. I'm working hard to repay that confidence and establish myself once and for all. I came to Flamengo, a great club, because I thought I could be a starter and help the team. I didn't have good moments last year, but it wasn't because I was complacent, but rather because of the preference of the coaches who came through here. I'll give my all to deserve a starting spot."
