Argentine Maxi was one of Flamengo's standout players in the final stretch of last year's Brazilian Championship. This season, he hadn't been getting many opportunities, but against Americano, Maxi had a great performance, which could earn him a starting spot.

- "I'm working hard to get back into the starting lineup. Flamengo's squad is very good, and Joel knows that if he needs me, I'll be ready to step in and take on the opposition," said Maxi.

The player did not hide his joy at scoring the goal.

- "The game was very important for me. I played a good match, and I even managed to score a goal, which I hadn't done for a long time."

Maxi wants the red-black team focused on Wednesday's match against Mesquita.

- "We have to win these two Taça Rio games, against Mesquita and Botago, because it will be very important for our qualification for the Carioca semifinals. Then, we'll go all out against Nacional"
