Mengão thrashes Grêmio 5-0 and advances to the Copa Libertadores final

Flamengo is in the CONMEBOL Libertadores final. "The Most Beloved" defeated Grêmio 5-0 at the Maracanã on Wednesday night and qualified to face River Plate in the final. Bruno Henrique, Gabigol (twice), Pablo Marí, and Rodrigo Caio scored the red-and-black goals.

The game

The first half was evenly matched, but Mengão went into the break with the lead. In the 41st minute, Gabigol shot, Paulo Victor released, and Bruno Henrique finished into the net: 1-0 Flamengo.

In the second half, Mengão dominated. In the first minute, Gabigol took the corner kick and fired a powerful shot: 2-0 Mengão. In the 10th minute, the striker extended the lead with a penalty kick: 3-0. Pablo Marí and Rodrigo Caio, both with headers, completed the scoring. We're in the Libertadores final and we're chasing the #Nation'sDream! 

This will be Mengão's second Libertadores final. In 1981, we defeated Cobreloa of Chile in the final.

Mengão returns to the field on Sunday, at 19 pm, to face CSA, in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship.
